Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love! This year, instead of just focusing on relationships and loving others, why don’t we try loving and caring for ourselves. Not only on Valentine’s Day but everyday!
Taking time out, and caring for yourself is very important. It can be easy to forget about yourself when you have so much to do. However, self-love is important to living well! It influences what people you choose to have in your life, your self-image, and how you cope with problems.
Self-love is not considered selfish or being full of yourself. It is about self-appreciation and self-acceptance. Self-love consists of the ability to accept our weaknesses as well as our strengths, and our short-comings as well as our successes. Achieving compassion for ourselves through our struggles, and finding fulfillment through our own efforts are ongoing goals of self-love.
Take a moment everyday to find the self-love within yourself! Starting to love and accept ourselves allows us to love and be loved by others.
What exactly does self-love mean to you? What is something you do to care for yourself?
